Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up without a Pressure Washer or Ladder
Is your home ready for Halloween? I don’t mean decorating. I mean is it so grimy and dirty that you don’t need to decorate to scare off the trick or treaters?
Umm, yup, that was my house. But, a few weeks ago I was introduced to my new CBFF (Cleaning Best Friend Forever.)
Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up
Seriously, you can ask my sister and stepmom! I was toting around a bottle of Krud Kutter this past weekend while working on renovating a VERY dated beach condo. What? You didn’t know I was doing that?!
Well, you NEED to follow me on Instagram to get the latest deets of my DIY life!
Anyway, back to Krud Kutter. The folks at Krud Kutter couldn’t believe I’d never used their products before. So, they offered to send me some to try. But, before I agreed, I checked with a few DIY friends like Holly. Â And, they all agreed, “Oh yeah, that stuff ROCKS!” Holly says she uses it to clean grimy furniture before painting it. I figured if she likes it, I might.
Within a few days, a box containing some Krud Kutter Original and Krud Kutter House Wash showed up on my VERY dirty doorstep. I’m sure my UPS driver thinks our stoop is a disgrace. I had contemplated buying a pressure washer to clean it.
(That white grout you see at the top of the picture was protected under the door mat for years.)
You can imagine my skepticism that a little plastic bottle could do the same job as a pressure washer. Â But, I was shocked at what happened next.
Here’s the down and dirty, true tale, of how I cleaned our home from top to bottom without a pressure washer or ladder:

Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up Materials:
- Krud Kutter Original
- Hose
- Broom
- Scrub brush
- Optional: Rubber gloves
Directions for Cleaning Exterior Grout and Tile on a Front Stoop:
First sweep off any loose dirt and leaves.
Spray Krud Kutter over the surface to be cleaned. (You can dilute it, but I figured the grime was tough competition for that little white and red bottle, so I didn’t dilute.)
Let the cleaner sit for a few minute. While you wait, you can get spray happy and maybe clean some outdoor furniture too.
Check back with your stoop. Whoa!!! Can you see that? The grime is pulling out of the grout in little brown puddles!
Quick grab your scrub brush and start scrubbing the grime off the surface. You’ll find that there’s not much “elbow grease” involved because the Krud Kutter has done most of the work for you.
Step back and admire your work halfway through. Can you see how clean the right hand side is?!
Keep scrubbing until you finish the whole front porch. Then wipe off your outdoor furniture with one swipe.
The Krud Kutter works great on the railings too. And because it is non-toxic and biodegradable I didn’t have to worry about it harming that hungry vine that must be fed by Seymour (please tell me you’re old enough to remember that movie.)
Finish by rinsing off the porch and furniture with the hose.
Are you ready for the results?
Here’s the side-by-side before and after comparison:
Yeah baby! At this point, I was so thrilled that I decided to try the Krud Kutter House Wash to get rid of the dirt, pollen and slug trails:
How to Clean Your Home without Ladders and a Pressure Washer:
Remember that pressure washer I mentioned earlier? I also wanted to buy one so I didn’t have to pay to have our home exterior professionally cleaned. I decided long ago that if I’m going to be around for my kids I need to stop the wet ladder antics. And you can too! Put down your phone, don’t call the Home Pressure Washer Professionals. Instead, grab these supplies and wash your home from the safety of the ground!
Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up Materials:
- Krud Kutter House Wash
- Broom
- Sponge
- Water hose
- Eye Goggles (to protect eyes from spray)
- Rubber Gloves (optional)
Instructions:
The instructions on the bottle say to spray your home, gutters, and the surrounding plants with water from the garden hose before you begin. Â You can do this before or after you connect the bottle of Krud Kutter House Wash to your hose. Make sure the bottle nozzle is set to “OFF” when attaching the hose.
Once the house is saturated, switch the nozzle to “CLEAN” and start spraying your home with the Krud Kutter House Cleaner from top to bottom.
Let the cleanser sit for 5-10 minutes. Set the bottle nozzle to “RINSE” and rinse off the cleanser.
The majority of the house was clean, but there were a few stubborn spots that required a little more scrubbing. I used a sponge to clean some mildew spots on the trim.
And the broom to scrub some of the petrified leaf debris from the gutters.
But, the siding looked much cleaner without scrubbing.
And the whole house had a much more inviting and clean look. Now we won’t be scaring the trick or treaters off before they get to the front door.
Here’s the side-by-side review:
Tile and grout:
You better believe I’m making room in my garage for these two!
You can buy your own at Lowe’s or your local hardware store. And those smart folks at Krud Kutter have a cleaning product for almost everything! Automotive, rust, driveways and MORE!
And the pressure washer? I’ll be saving that money (and floor space) for something else. 😉

I never knew there to be a Krud Kutter for houses….. Thanks! However, I have another questions…. Did you do your front stoop yourselves, as I’m wondering what that is in various shapes, on top of your concrete base. It looks like something I would like!
Pat, no, our house is 30 years old. The stoop is made from broken red tiles set in grout. I know there are several other houses in the neighborhood that have the same. Cool, huh?!
Pat, I’m sorry I don’t know where you can get the tiles. I bet they are thicker than they look because it truly looks like they were laid and then a lighter colored exterior grout was applied. The tiles are almost smooth with the grout. And the grout doesn’t match the color of the mortar used on the brick border around the rest of the stoop. You could probably buy porcelain tiles in 12″ x 12″ squares and break them yourself.
WOW, I’ve used Krud Kutter before but not on the exterior. I just went to Lowe’s yesterday but looks like I’ll be making another trip. With out Arizona red dirt, I can certainly use this stuff. What a transformation Brittany, Thanks for this post!
I love Krud Kutter. When we moved into this house, the kitchen was covered in grease – like someone had fried chicken with all the cabinets open every day. Krud Kutter was the only thing that got the cabinets clean. I’ll definitely try it outside!
Wow! I need this stuff in my life!! The NC pollen that sticks to our house is unreal…. Thanks for this post! xx Liz Marie
Ah you read my mind, washing the house and then the patio is on the list for the fall. Going to have to try it and let you know.
I’ve got to try this stuff this weekend! I was just about to borrow the pressure washer from our neighbor’s.
I’ve never used it either but it looks great! We were considering a power washing but now…
Thank you, thank you. I was just getting ready to bite the bullet and pay for a professional to wash my house and walkway. Do they package this in a bigger bottle? like say a gallon. I’ve got lotsa a crud.
Hannah, I think so, but I only used one bottle for the front of our house and garage (granted, I only have one story worth of siding.)
Oh, that’s good to know. I will try it out this weekend
we just got a letter from our HomeOwners Association that we must Pressure Wash our home, which of course everyone gets these annoying letters from time to time and then we always borrow the pressure washer from work and get the job done to avoid further threatening letters. This always involves using the outdoor bleach too, which I know isn’t safe to be smelling.
I would love it if KrudKutter would send me the House Cleaner too so I may give it a go! We aren’t going to clean for a couple more weeks, because it’s just too darn hot out. {so take that HOA lol}
Yours came out excellent and the walkway really came out nice!
That looks excellent! I’m just gearing up to do the same chore too and I’ll have to try that out. It will be interesting to see how it does on the more persistant green that grows everywhere here in Oregon.
Boy! Do I need this stuff! Thanks for the great review.
I am so going to try this product! Thanks for the review!
Love, Love, Love Krud Kutter! My husband thinks I have issues. Spray around the back screw things on your “clean” toilet seat…. gross what comes out of the joint!
Just a warning, it will take off finishes on furniture. I spilled some(full strength) on my kitchen table and it totally removed the finish. I wasn’t upset, I just used the rest of my bottle as a paint stripper and refinished my table…. it worked great.
Looks Nice! I need some of that krud kutter!
That’s an amazing difference on your porch. I’m going to try that. Thanks.
