Cabinet hardware is akin to the finishing touches on an outfit. It is the jewelry that really catches the eye in a kitchen. I’m not a big jewelry person. I only wear my wedding rings on a daily basis. And I have necklaces and bracelets for the days that I actually change out of my work clothes. But, I’ve never been the type of gal to go ga ga over a diamond.
However, I found myself getting starr-eyed while trying to choose our kitchen hardware. I felt like a kid in a candy store because there were so many choices (and yet so little time.) This week I learned that our cabinets will be arriving at the end of the month. And my designer (who really needs to be my personal assistant) gently asked me, “Have you ordered your cabinet hardware yet?” Gulp…umm no. What I wanted to say was, “Seriously? This is the least of my worries! I need to get the walls finished and a floor in our kitchen before I can even think about bling!” That’s when it dawned on me, a Handy Gal can’t do everything! Especially when it comes to jewelry (it’s just not my strong suit.)
With that in mind, I’m asking for your help. Yes, that means you Ms. “I’m Sitting Here at My Computer Drinking My Coffee While I Watch Pretty Handy Girl’s Kitchen Renovation Updates”! And you may be thinking, heck no, I don’t have time to help her. But, what if I told you there might be something in it for you? Hmmm? Are you willing to help me now?!
Here’s the deal, I’m going to show you some of my choices and you help me choose by leaving me a comment below. Then you can enter to win one of two $100 Gift Certificates to D.Lawless Hardware. And if you are saying, I’m still not going to help her because I’m happy with my cabinet hardware already. Well, what if I told you that D. Lawless sells a lot more than cabinet hardware:
Knobs and pulls are the least of their offerings! Corbels, hinges, switch plates, drawer slides, hooks, pie safe punched tin, casters, shelf brackets, space savers and much more! This is one of my favorite products they sell:
Are you game now?! Here’s how it works:
To help (or further muddy) the decision making process, I’ve put together this mood board with some of the other materials and fixtures that I’m using in the kitchen.
Uttermost Hanging Pendant Light, Cassidy Oil Rubbed Bronze Touch2O Faucet, Carrera Venato Honed Marble Subway Tiles, White Diamond Recycled Glass Countertop, and Globus Cork Tile Floors.
Here are the hardware combos I picked out:
Choice A:
Antique Copper Pull with Screw Heads and French Lace Venetian Bronze Knob
Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull and Bronze with Copper Highlights Knob
Choice C:
Antique Pewter Cup Pull and Clear Octagon Cut Glass Knob
Choice D:
Antique Copper Cup Pull and Ridge Knob Antique Copper
Choice E:
A combo of the above: Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull and Clear Octagon Cut Glass Knob
Not to sway your decision, but will you look at that glass knob!
I think I just fell in love with a diamond. It would make a beautiful earring, don’t you think?
And that bronze cup pull, it just sings “tug me.” Gahhhhhh! Is it okay to mix styles? I seriously need your help on this decision.
Can I help it if I look at hardware and immediately think jewelry? Didn’t you see a necklace pendant, too?

I love choice E! the glass knob is gorgeous!
I love clear knobs.. soooo doing those
I would pick the Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull
The Bronze!
I’m torn between choice C and E. The glass knobs are a definite in my book. And they’re octagons! We’re refacing our cabinets this spring and I also need to go shopping for some kitchen bling
I’ll have to go check out D. Lawless now!
I would choose ‘E’—-It’s got class!!!
Decisions, decisions! I’m thinking E, with a second choice of A. Love all of your ideas. I’m excited for you!
E all the way!
I have to say Choice B. I know you love the glass door knobs, but I think they would be better served on an “antique buffet” – in the color of the flooring in the kitchen…a nice golden oak! I know you love Choice E, but I think B would really pull together the colors of the pendant lights and the cork flooring. Thanks for the opportunity! Good luck!
Pretty handy girl ,shows unique designer features for the home ,I love it and this hardware company ,she shows off on her facebook, site ,I especially love the glass tourquoise hardware, and the glass hardware she shows holding it by her face like earrings in her photo ,
too funny,, they maybe too big for earrings but lovely on any furniture or cabinets!!..,
I really adore choice A. I have a thing for copper. They are all stunning options though.
I love the copper best – seems like it would go with about any color choice downroad. Great with warm or cool colors. Of course, so would that gorgeous glass knob, although it makes the kitchen more ‘retro’, IMHO.
My choice would be “B” the Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull and Bronze with Copper Highlights Knob. It better matches the finish of the kitchen faucet and will tie the finishes together. I love the glass knobs and would use the combination of the glass and Bronze/Copper hardware if the decor was of an eclectic flavor and yours seems more of a traditional and elegant decor. Your choice of textures and surfaces are brilliant and have given me some great ideas for my own kitchen remodeling. What a mess it’s been but I can’t wait till it’s finished because I’m doing it myself with the help of great friends!
Choice C looks classic – I love that look!
Absolutely Choice B! The colors really bring out the best in each other – cabinet paint and hardware.
LOVE THIS….Definitely the Bronze and Copper with the Cut Glass
I’m all for mixing styles. I love that glass knob. My favorite pull is Option A, the copper with screw heads. You have a tough, yet fun decision ahead of you.
Choose B!
Choice D is lovely!
I like Choice “E”. I love all the metal but I think you need a glass knob to tie in the beautiful glass pendant. Good luck, all the choices are gorgeous!
Choice D, that copper looks so classy!
I would totally do the combo. I just finally put cabinet hardware on my kitchen cabinets & wanted to put antique glass knobs, but it just didn’t work with all of the modern elements of our new build. I think the glass & copper pulls look gorgeous with the other materials picked!
I vote for “E”, the combo.
I say the Antique Pewter Cup Pull and Clear Octagon Cut Glass Knob
I just wanted to add this morning, after a nice little crash on my pc last p.m. that I think you should choose the first ones, the French Venetian Bronze Knob . Here is what I would do different, it is not in the hardware choice but the cabinets themselves. I think it would pick up some sparkle by doing a very light metalic glaze , dry brushing just around the inside box of your cupboard doors. That is what would bring together the great shine off the new lighting. Sometimes it is the smallest detail that pulls the room together, but that is just my opinion. Great choices otherwise, keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Becky
