DIY Pom Pom Placemat Pillows

Hi Pretty Handy Readers, Jaime here from That’s My Letter  sharing another fun DIY project.  Today it’s pom pom placemat pillows. Yes, please!

We just amped up the fun factor with these cute pom pom placemat pillows and they are a cinch to make.

Pom Pom Placemat Pillows

You make a placemat sandwich with pom pom trim in between and no turning right side out!  Simply fill with stuffing and sew shut.

The red and white is classic and bold. But, I loved this simple sewing project so much that I made another set of pom pom pillows for my girls summer bedding.

A pretty set of yellow placemats with light pink pom pom trim will be the perfect accent pillow on their beds.

Pom Pom Placemat Pillows Materials:

  • 2 quilted placemats per pillow
  • pom pom trim (2 yards for 1 pillow)
  • thread to match
  • straight pins
  • sewing machine
  • scissors
  • polyfill stuffing

 

Pom Pom Placemat Pillows Instructions:

Step 1: Take one placemat and starting in the middle of one edge, line up the pom pom trim at the edge of one placemat.  Place a 2nd placemat on top of trim and sew together.  Be sure to leave a 4″ opening for stuffing.

Step 2: Fill the pillow with stuffing.

Step 3: Place the pom pom trim in between the placemats at the opening and pin shut.  Sew the pillow closed.

And now it’s ready for a little girls bedroom.  But first I have to take down some wallpaper!

    That is such a great idea. I have made a purse from one before. I did so when I needed something to match an outfit for a wedding. I like this even better.
