The HouseLogic Boost Your Roost Contest Winner is

And the Winner of HouseLogic’s Boost Your Roost Contest is . . .

The Smith Family!!! (Yes, they were my chosen entry, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for them!)

The votes were tallied and this deserving family came out on top. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for Allison and Aaron, whose lives will be changed in just a few short weeks. I only wish I could be there to literally help them break ground.

Pouring over all of the deserving applicants, (over 250), and deciding upon only one finalist was so emotional for me.

To all of you who voted and are turning this dream into a reality, I can’t thank you enough. Houselogic will post progress videos in October as mounds of dirt turn into a beautiful wheelchair accessible area that everyone in the Smith family will enjoy. What a wonderful 40th birthday gift for Aaron – to actually be able to enjoy his own backyard! You can read more about the winners on HouseLogic.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I’ll be sure to share the progress video when it is released.

In the meantime, I feel fulfilled knowing that this little blog of mine has helped someone this month. If you are interested, you could enter a giveaway to win a $1,000 gift card! Sign up for HouseLogic emails to receive a reminder when the first video airs and the giveaway begins.

More good deeds to come.

Disclosure: I have partnering with HouseLogic to promote and advertise the “Boost Your Roost” contest. I was not told what to write. I was compensated for my time.

I was so disappointed when my entry was not chosen but when I saw the story about this family, my sadness turned to gladness! I cried when I read how hard it was for you to make your selection and than voted for this couple as did my family who were originally planning to vote for me. Can’t wait to see the reveal- YOU ARE AN ANGEL – don’t you ever shut down this blog – unless it is to do your own “Pretty Handy Girl Tool Time show!”

    • Mary, thank you sooo much for your comment. Your words mean so much to me. I was truly upset that I couldn’t choose everyone! There were some entries who truly needed even more renovations than the Smiths, but the time and money constraint had to be taken into account and I wasn’t able to choose them (but don’t think I didn’t try ;-).)

    • I did the very same. I was upset that I wasn’t chosen as a finalist, but also felt very content with the ones that were chosen. I spread my votes around, but did vote everyday. Your entry, PHG, was my favorite as well. Such a wonderful 40th birthday present. However, I imagine it is really most important to their child that can now enjoy the outdoors and his very own backyard with Aaron. Great choice! I am so happy that they won.

  2. Yay!! I’m so glad! I can imaging how difficult it was to choose one finalist. In the end, it went to a very deserving family!!

I am so excited for Alison. Aaron and Coop!!! I am honored to have known this wonderful family for several years now and they so deserve all they have won! We have an amazing community that got together whether they knew Alison and Aaron or not and voted! Yeahhh!!! Congrats again!!

  4. yeah, that is who I voted for. I too was “glad” that I was not chosen so that this family was.

  5. Congrats!!! Absolutely deserving :~)

I’m pretty new to your site/emails, and had to tell you how inspired I am by all of it. I’m a newlywed after being single for a long time, and finally have a home to make my own. Not only are your ideas beautiful and creative, (the lizard party was adorable) but I love to find women who seem to be living joyously, with courage, discovering what gives them wings while taking care of a family. Thank you!
