Two Ingredient Sunburn Relief Spray

Oops I did it again. I forgot to put sunscreen on and lost track of time while weeding this weekend. Now my skin is paying the price with a deep red sunburn.

In an effort to find some natural relief, I turned to my essential oil bible: Modern Essentials guide to essential oils book (affiliate link) and found that lavender is a natural pain reliever and soothing oil for burns.

To make this sunburn relief spray, you need only two ingredients! It’s a good idea to keep this bottle handy. Hopefully you won’t need it, but its cooling mist is soothing on sunburned skin.

Here is a two ingredient recipe for sunburns that I received from my grandmother years ago: very strongly brewed black tea. Allow several tea bags to steep in boiling water for 4-5 minutes, add ice, and chill. Use the tea bags to apply the cold tea to the affected area. The tannins in the tea help remove the sting. It works, is inexpensive, and this remedy is 100% natural. You can even compost the leftover tea bags!

Brittany, I believe in the symptom relieving powers of herbs; I’ve been using them for many years. I make my own tinctures, oils, and teas when I have a problem that needs relieving. But I’m very cautious about companies that sell essential oils or anything as this one does. Nothing outside of antibiotics is a cure that I am aware of. I came across this company a couple years ago, but recently was passed this particular article and I thought you might be interested in reading it.

I love doTerra oils! Question: where do you find the metal or glass spray bottles? I know you aren’t supposed to use plastic bottles with the oils. Thanks!
