Painting Dandelions on the Wall

It’s Friday!!! But, it’s not just any friday. No, no, no. This friday I’m headed to the beach with some other mom friends. No kids, no husbands, NO BOYS, just us 5 mommas! I can’t wait.

But, I promised to show you the graphic I painted on our bedroom wall. I know, I teased you as long as I could.

Pretty Handsome Boys #1 & #2, can you please pull back the curtains for the final reveal?

Dandelion Seeds

Floating Away

Dandelion Head

The Pair

Gentle breeze picks up...

...blowing in our bedroom suite. Peaceful restful. Ahhhh.

I painted the graphic in a few hours using a mixture of 1/3 of the wall color to 2/3 white ceiling paint. The tutorial is HERE. But, if you are hesitant to paint your own, check out Leen’s graphic dandelions HERE.

Because I tortured you with anticipation, I’ll give you a quick tour of our bedroom (a very quick tour because it is a very small bedroom).

Our pottery barn sleigh bed (gifted to us by my sister) flanked by new curtains and blinds that I showed you how to hang this week.

Thank goodness for two closets! Peeking into Pretty Handsome Boy #1’s room.
We painted a woodland mural in there.

A photo I took of the London Eye when Pretty Handsome Guy and I had a romantic getaway. I uploaded the file to and gave it to my love for Christmas.

Sunprints made with my boys. So fun, so easy, so pretty!

And on the opposing wall, is the dandelion mural blowing seeds over the Craig’s List Dresser I refinished.
Ultimately, I want to add a wall quote over the dresser. But, Pretty Handsome Guy and I are still not agreeing on compiling quotes.

You did that freehand?!?!?!? WOW!!! I love it! How about, "The answer, my friend is blowing in the wind"

LOVE your graphic, you did a great job! My personal favorite of your quotes is this one: May the warm winds of heaven blow softly in this home.

I think it goes best with your room and your new graphic!

Beautiful work and PHB's room looks awesome from the peek! My 2 fav quotes are; Where there is love, there is life. – Ghandi, and Grow old along with me the best is yet to be. But I kinda like the Ghandi one best. I don't have one to add- but if I come up with one- I'll add it to the comments!

to be fair, you should post PHG's too. THen let your readers decide! 😉

Tru, yes, freehand, but I'm going to show you how to do it. I think you all should be able to handle it ;-).

Denise, well, Pretty Handy Guy hasn't come up with any suggestions ;-D.

LOVE your dandelions! Your room looks so relaxing!

As for quotes, hmmm… I think "Remember your yesterdays, dream your tomorrows, live your todays" is my favorite!

Can't wait to see what y'all decide on! And the tutorial on those dandelions! :)

It is absolutely magical. I love it! This definitely needs to be featured in a magazine! It's amazing. Great job!

That is gorgeous! I could only hope to be as talented with a brush. I love this quote:

Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination.

I love this! I have painted murals on the walls of other people, but have always been afraid to commit to one myself. I want to do the dandelions so badly now! I love how the color is so subtle! That and I'm a little obsessed and plan to get a tattoo with a dandelion… :)

"God hears Amen wherever we are, and I love you" – Dixie Chicks

Since you can't agree on any of the ones you picked how about this one…Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. Good luck. Love the mural.

I like "How do I love thee…" because of the multitude of seeds blowing away, BUT, my friend has "Kiss me goodnight" on her wall.
Love, love, love the dandelion!

Great job on painting the dandelion. Have you ever thought of vinyl wall decals they are trendy, cool and you can move them around. Plus if you get bored like I do. You can do different with less mess then painting but just as much satisfaction, quickly. Your quote would be cool in vinyl too, you could get it custom made. “Always kiss me good Night” is fun.

There was a pretty dandelion
with fluffy fluffy hair
that glistened in the sunlight
and in the summer air
soon that pretty dandelion
will grow old and grey
and sad to say
her charming hair
blow many miles away

I love your paint color on your wall, I have been trying to find one similar for awhile, but cannot seem to find a good sample. Do you know what color this is?

I used the dandelion tutorial and did a wall prop for my second graders to stand in front of. It looked like they were blowing them and making a Valentine Wish! Thanks. Wish I could post the picture
