Do you look through magazines and catalogs and find yourself wishing you knew the color of the room you are drooling over? Or do you have a favorite photo and want to build a room’s color palette around that photo? Wish no longer! Now you can easily do both of these things and more. Glidden has a new tool called My Image Inspiration which allows you to upload your own image and get color suggestions based on the photo.
I took the tool for a test drive using my laundry room inspiration mood board. First you upload a picture from your computer, or choose an image from your Facebook album. (If you need more inspiration there is a photo gallery that you can browse and select one of their photos to use.)
Next you select an area of your image to focus on. You can crop in on a small area in the photo or use the entire image.
Look at those scrumptious colors that My Image Inspiration chose for my laundry room! Beautiful! It also picked complimentary colors to use with the main color. I’m headed to my local Home Depot to check out that antique silver. I’ll be bringing the curtain fabric with me to make sure the wall color works well with the fabric colors.
Next I scanned the cover of the latest Garnet Hill and uploaded the photo. (If you don’t have a scanner, take a picture with your phone or digital camera.)
I zoomed in on an area that had the colors I really liked.
And up popped several colors to choose from. When you select one of the suggested colors, a sample palette that compliments that color appears on the right. My Image Inspiration does half the work of painting a room for you!
Hmmm, now if only Glidden would introduce a My Personal Painter tool!
