  1. Thanks, i was looking for some DIY blogs
    you helped a lot

  2. Shirley Bledsoe says:

“Scraping popcorn ceilings” was the best I have read…esp mentioning the asbestos as my house was built in 1978. Home Depot nor Lowe’s have the asbestos test kit. Do you know how I can get this done. Should there be a local company that I could take a sample to? I want to get this done soon.

  3. I have question for you, I recently painted glossy paint on table top. I do not like the outcome, can I distress the top of table? and how to go about it. Thank You Sue

  4. Melanie Moss says:

I live in Southern Louisiana and have found a vintage wood and metal outdoor chair set. I would love to distress in a blue color. Can I send a pic and get some ideas?

  5. Thanks for this great list! I’ve been looking for some new inspirations.

  6. Catalina Rodriguez says:

I have a question about redoing an old Victorian style nightstand that has a lot of detailing that I’d like to paint a different color than the rest of the table. Do you have any tips when it comes to the process of painting the detailing? I can send you a picture if you’d like? :)

  7. I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath mobile home. My husband and I share the master bedroom, my step-s0n has a bedroom and my 17 year old has a bedroom. The catch is my 17 year old is having a baby in July and we need to incorporate a nursey in her room. Any ideas would be wonderful?????

    • April, are you trying to figure out space issues? In other words how to get a crib and changing table into your 17 yr. old’s room? Or are you asking about trying to partition the room for noise issues?

  8. Any tips for painting an exterior door on the hinges? Inside and out? My main issue is pet hair while I am doing this. It is not possible for this door to be removed from the hinges and painted. Thanks! I can keep them outside or in the garage temporarily..but there is still a lot of pet hair floating around.

    • Ginger, I’m actually painting my front doors now and am not taking them off the hinges. Just be sure to use two coats (at least) and go back to check for drips (especially in the interior panel corners.) Have fun!

  9. Thanks for the list. i am reading Sawdust Girl and Vintage Revivals and i just added you to my reading list. Keep up the good work!!

  10. Great list!

  13. I have any existing wood carved canopy bed with no attached finials. What type of hardware can be used to attach curtains to the frame

  14. I noticed that you don’t follow I follow a lot of the blogs you do, but love to follow Kristi as well. Have you ever visited her blog? Anyway I love to follow you also.. Your a very talented “girl”. I just found my love of working and building with wood. Sure wish I’d of had internet 30 years ago. Lol Thanks to all the ladies in DIY land. You all brought me out of a very very depressed stage in my life. Bet you never thought of yourself helping a person in this way. Building things just helps me so much. Thanks

  15. Hi ! I came across your blog this evening and I absolutely love it. Excited to try out some of the projects myself. I’m in a dilemma and I would love to use a little help from you. I have this brown leather bag that used to be really pretty, but has become worn out and boring of late. If I could send you a pic, could you pls recommend some DIY makeover ideas ?
    Eagerly awaiting your response.
    Loads of love XOXOXO

I want to thank you for the tutorial on installing electric receptical extenders. I just bought a home that need a lot of work and I will be installing beadboard throughout. I almost thought to sub it out because I wasn’t sure how to handle the sockets and wall switches even though I’m a DIY queen. Now I will do it myself without given it a second thought. BTW…my father was an electrician and he never passed on this trick!

  21. Hi Pretty Handy Girl!

I have developed a new mending product that I thought you might be interested in. You can use it to make hooks and clips, fix broken plastics and many other things. I hope it will take its place next to duct tape and blu-tack.

I would be very happy if you let me know what you think of it, if there was a place for it on your blog I would be even happier!

I’m sorry for the shamelessly self promotional nature of this message…. but I genuinely felt that you would be interested in it.

    My best,

  22. Aw, this was a really nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to
    produce a top notch article… but what can I say… I
procrastinate a whole lot and never manage to get anything done.
