My Colortopia Show Your Colors

I have to admit to y’all that I have illegal tendencies. I haven’t been arrested yet, but sometimes I fear that my prying eyes may get me in trouble one day. I like to walk at night with the dog. But, my eyes always wander into the well lit windows of my unsuspecting neighbor’s homes. I can’t stop staring.

I am curious to see what colors they have used and how they decorate their homes. Sure, I could go to an advertised Open House on the weekend. (It is legal to go to an open house even if you aren’t looking to buy, right?) The problem is that this has only perpetuated the problem. It makes me want that kind of access to everyone’s homes. Oh the temptation!

Well, lucky for me, My Colortopia is on a mission to let me peek into all my friend’s and neighbor’s homes! They introduced a new tab on their site labeled Before & After.

When you click on it, you are taken to the Show Your Colors page (a Peeping Tom’s paradise!)

For example, I have an online friend named Lana from Making a House a Home. She invited readers to see her amazing stenciled living room by simply uploaded her photos to the Before & After section of My Colortopia’s Show Your Colors.

Thanks to the generosity of Lana and  Joey (her husband.) I can fantasize that she invited me into her home.

I was able to look at the pictures of her living room , and how the room looked before the transformation. But, that’s not all…

…even though she used another brand paint, I was able to get a close color match to a Glidden color so I can copy her living room walls if I want to.

The My Colortopia site is so cool that you can get an idea what color almost anyone has used in their home. Let’s say that you have a friend that is willing to let you into her house. And you fall in love with said friend’s bedroom wall color. She may tell you that she doesn’t remember the color (don’t believe her), but now all you have to do is snap a picture of your “friend’s” room and upload it to the MyColortopia’s My Image Inspiration section.

Once the photo is loaded, select the section of the room that best shows the paint color. Before you know it, you’ll have a close match to her wall color. Keep in mind this isn’t 100% accurate, but it will at least help you get on the right track.

From now on, no one should be denied access to a friend or neighbor’s paint colors. Help join the mass movement to Show Your Colors and encourage your friends to also! (Or take a picture of their room when they aren’t looking. But don’t get caught, okay?) Who’s with me? Let’s go:

Do you like what you see? It’s wonderful having virtual open houses, isn’t it!
