This is a little story about a girl named Pretty Handy Messy Girl. She was a DIY Super Star, but she had a big problem. Her workshop (sometimes referred to as the garage) was a colossal mess! There were piles of paint, unfinished projects, tools strewn everywhere, remnants of beach vacations past and worst of all: the clutter seemed to be procreating. Yikes!
I’m warning you now — what you are about to see is very disturbing — please avert your eyes if you detest chaos.
This is abuse! The sad plastic shelving just can’t hold all the paint cans anymore.
Don’t look now, squeezed amongst the toys are the bikes. Believe it or not, there are actually 4 bikes in the picture. But, that 4th one is inaccessible! Can you tell it doesn’t get much use?
Then there are the tools —Pretty Messy Girl’s necessities of the trade — they are just scattered willy nilly. Such a crying shame!
Lucky for our heroine, she had a Super Hero who was about to deliver her from this prison of clutter.
Meet our hero, The Bagster® Bag! Pretty Handsome Guy found our hero at the local Ace Hardware and left him front and center for Pretty Messy Girl to see. Speaking of see, did you see that last word? My favorite: GONE!

My suggestion for garage clutter is to look up, to your ceiling or attic space above the garage. I am currently making overhead storage for my ladder and large outdoor umbrella using angle bars attached to joists and s hooks with HVAC tape and pvc pipe. It sounds complicated but it is real simple. I am using
the ceiling space between my garage doors. I am using a new product named “Attic-Dek” to make a floor on the attic studs for storage. The great part about the 16″ or 24″ inch plastic pieces is that you can carry them to the attic with no hassle and install with just a drill. Each piece can hold up to 250 lbs. Check out their web site for info.
Find as many places on the wall where you can add shelves. Getting things off the floors is the best!
Avoid clutter by simply having a tag sale every year for things you have no use for!

Re: the clutter….sigh, trying to deal with my own garage now as we gear up for winter! I agree with others, getting stuff up off the floor and onto the walls is huge. Also a big fan of purging/donating, feels so good once it’s done!
My tip for a clutter free garage. Lots and lots of storage! Everything needs to have a labelled home. Find a label maker, lots of bins and have at it.
When I clean out spaces that tend to collect the ‘some day’ type of items I always approach it as if I was moving… If I wouldn’t move it to my new house; which I spend some time dreaming about (procrastinating). If I wouldn’t move it I don’t keep it.

Can I simply say what a comfort to uncover somebody who truly understands what they’re discussing on the net. You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people have to read this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised you’re not more popular given that you definitely have the gift.
